About SCBP
WHAT IS SCBP:
Sanitation Capacity Building Platform (SCBP) is an initiative of the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) for addressing urban sanitation challenges in India and it is supported by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation grant. It is aimed at promoting non-sewered sanitation solutions for septage and wastewater management in India.
The Platform is an organic and growing collaboration of credible national and international organizations, universities, training and resource centers, non-governmental organizations, academia, consultants and experts. SCBP works in close collaboration with the National Faecal Sludge and Septage Management (NFSSM) Alliance.
WHAT WE DO:
The Platform lends support to the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India, by focusing on urban sanitation and supporting states and cities to move beyond the open defecation free (ODF) status by addressing safe disposal and treatment of faecal sludge and septage.
Considering the emerging priorities of water conservation, managing water demand and reducing the wastewater footprint, SCBP’s core is capacity building for Non-Sewered Sanitation and Integrated Wastewater Management.
SCBP anchors the Training Module Review Committee (TMRC) of the NFSSM Alliance with the mandate to develop innovative training content and to ensure quality control, delivery of FSSM trainings and capacity building efforts across India.
OUR GOAL:
To build the capacity of city officials and other stakeholders working in urban sanitation to ensure improved delivery of sanitation services through implementation of non-sewered sanitation including Faecal Sludge & Septage Management (FSSM).
SCBP Portal is a knowledge platform on Non-Sewered Urban Sanitation.
With an overload of information on the net, this site provides a resource centre for Learning and Advocacy material, important Government Orders and Reports, Training Modules, Workshop Reports and Publications produced under SCBP. We also share the most relevant work on decentralised sanitation from other organisations including Reports and Publications, Videos and learning material.
We invite engagement, suggestions and inputs for improving the content and reach of this platform. Kindly send your suggestions through the Collaborate with us tab or the contact us tab.
